Ok
it seems like there has been a lot of conflict going on right now about new members as well as admin privliages. I think there has been enough mudslinging and feel that it's time to get to work on fixing stuff.
In reguards to new members,
In retrospect perhaps I was a bit hastey in inviteing Goose into the mix. In my defense it was never my intention to leave people out of the loop and any hurt feeling that resulted I apologise for. I was under the impression that it was cool because Alex had played with BYA frequently before. My bad, let's get over it.
So moving on, lets set some ground rules for letting in new members. I propose that we make it a note to talk to all of us about potential members. Voting would be a bit black and white, but a spirited discussion seems far more productive. Keeping this in mind I think we should invite Colt back in. He's good people and he has done nothing to invite the scorn he has generated. If we really want to though I'm up for re-evaluating Goose, seeing as he's so recent.
In reguards to admin status,
If someone whats the admin status on the BYA community page, feel free to take it from me. I have only used it once and don't really need it. The only reason I have it is because I created it on a whim. But I don't get some strange, perverse satisfaction from having the status. I don't know how that idea came around and it's far from appriciated.
The website is another story though. For now only me and the Lerma brothers have admin access. This isn't because we're on a power trip, it's because the site is still under development. If someone wants admin privliges feel free to ask, but you are going to have to have a crash course in Drupal and our site before we give it up. We're not trying to be all elitist, it's just that we've put a lot of work into it and want it taken care of properly.
Other stuff,
I've noticed a lot of catty moves/posts made by people on all sides. I would like say that this is in poor form. Remember, we're all friends here. If you have a problem with someone, give them a call before you post. A good talk is far more effective than any number of posts. Let's all keep this in mind.
Well that's about it. Feel free to get your comment on, but keep it civil people! :D
PS: Sorry about the spelling. I'm not on my laptop and spell check is off. :(

no offense
Oh and Sam, I didn't mean any negativity towards you. I just remember that in the past Squirrel and I were talking about the admin status within the Steam group, and being told that Rooster denied Squirrel his request. And when I asked Rooster about it recently, he directed me to you, hence his name being crossed out and replaced with yours.
I don't care about the admin status, just thought it was worth pointing out, because it makes no sense.
Ahh
Ok that makes more sense. I was wondering where that came from! Personally I've never done anything other than post a note and accept Alex on the Steam page. If Luke got rejected it wasn't the work of my hand. What probably happened is that (from what Tanner has told me) steam has a max admin limit of 4. So there is a chance that Luke was rejected because of that. But I'm still not sure of that so some more research is required. All I can say is that I never denied Luke, or anyone else, admin status.
On a slightly related note, last night I went to check to see if I could "give up" admin rights on the steam account. Apparently I'm the "Owner" and not a normal admin (probably because I beat Nels to the punch :P). I still dont know how to undo it so any suggestions would be appriciated.
BTW i'm in LA till 6ish Monday morning. Lol unexpected trips for the win! :D
There's no question that you
There's no question that you and Chris should be admin on the website; that's your guys' business and I thank you for stepping up to the plate. But there's no reason anyone shouldn't be admin in the Steam usergroup.
I understand Luke's frustration regarding the purpose of the Steam "clan", as well as website. For now, just leave the website be. Does it REALLY MATTER what it is? Not happy about it? Then don't use it. No one is forcing you to use it and you don't have to rely on it for anything. We have phone numbers, as well as Steam for communication.
As for the purpose of the Steam BYA user group:
Is it just a collection of casual TF2/L4D players that know each other IRL, are we planning on doing scrimmages at some point in the future (6 vs 6, clan vs clan competitive play), or does the "clan" just represent friends that know each other from high school?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm against the latter idea; after all it IS A STEAM USER GROUP, that is on the INTERNET.
It would be fun to do some scrimmages since the 3v3 Rooster, Llama and I participated in at Cogswell turned out pretty well; we have potential especially with the recent inclusion of a few members.
However, participating in competitive play will require structure and leadership, something that this group is lacking, so I guess that is out of the question. This would also mean practicing and becoming competent in most of the classes (since the player count per team is so low). I honestly don't think we have the time and dedication for such a venture at this point in time.
So that leaves us with the first idea I presented. I don't have a problem with anyone joining the Steam group, and am highly opposed to having the group strictly as friends from high school. We don't need to bring that exclusivity to the internet and online gaming, that's just stupid and pointless. After all we are still allowed to HANG OUT IRL.
I do think that in order to be assimilated into the Steam group, the person should be someone that the majority of the group members have met, is thought of as chill by the majority, and of course is fun to play with on TF2. So far every member passes in my eyes.
Irrelevent note: Before I knew the specifics of all the recent drama, I KNEW that what Squirrel instigated was just a test... I just think it's funny that those that over reacted, did, and couldn't see past it.
