I haven't mentioned this to many of you, but I've been thinking about making a new bong (or just a new lid for my nalgene bong) for quite a while, and have been collecting materials. Today, I accomplished just that. I built a new lid for my nalgene bong. I'm sure you'll all see it soon, but I'll give you a brief description of how it differs from the original bong lid (which I still have available).
- Modularity: both the water hose and the air hose can now easily unscrew and detach from the lid. This makes it more easily modifiable, more easily cleaned, more easily stored, and generally more robust.
- Hose diameter: I found some rubber tubing that has roughly double the inner diameter of the original air hose. That works out to about 4 times the air flow, if I'm thinking of the right equations (which I may not be). The bong is therefore much easier to hit now -- easier to breathe in, and easier to take a fatty rip. The bowl is still a major choke point, but I'll address that next.
- Modified water hose attachment: in addition to making the water hose attach more removably, I also reversed the piece I used to attach the water hose to the lid itself. In so doing I was able to enlarge the hole through the lid. At the moment I'm using the same bowl as the original. However, I think it would be very easily modified to fit a larger bowl that has a larger opening. If this is possible, I believe it would turn this bong into a beast.
- It's amazing: I just tested it with a quarter of a bowl, and I'm already fucked up (yeah, you probably already figured that out).
